Race Recumbent!

The new Speedmachine is equipped with the ergonomic BodyLink seat and optionally with indirect under-seat steering. This gives a very relaxed arm position, which may not be quite as aerodynamic as the alternative above-seat steering, but it is more relaxed for long rides and offers the rider an uninterrupted view forwards. The steering geometry has been revised to promote stable straight-line handling with luggage, helped by the long 117cm wheelbase. The seat height has been raised by 5cm to 48cm. This relatively high position, in comparison to low-racer competitive bikes, is more car-driver friendly and allows more secure participation in traffic.

Full suspension offers a relaxed yet exciting ride, even on cobbles. HP Velotechnik's No-Squat Design effectively prevents pedal-induced bounce, so you can really push the pedals uphill. Front suspension is via a head-tube unit from Concept with an aluminium fork. This helps to bring the weight down to 14.3kg.

The comfortable BodyLink Seat adjusts to the natural S- shape of the spine: the combination of a rigid anatomically shaped seat base and a slightly curved back rest with a flexible intermediate section offers the rider perfect support over a large area.
